Our new blog header

After many late nights chasing pixels, our logo is finalized, so good-bye to the blog banner with a photo of the beautiful cream rose from our garden:

and hello to our new banner, based on the big sign that will go over our shop:

We're hoping Sign Up Sign Company will be able to fit us into their schedule to come on Monday. Larry Ormbrek will actually bring the vinyl lettering and graphic and lay it out on the floor of The Living Room. Saves us trying to find a way of lugging a 12 foot by 4 foot sign board to his Bothell shop. Thanks, Larry! He and his wife, Susie, have been great to work with.

It was Laurie Sperry's really terrific idea to put our 3 target retail areas (furniture, art, tea & treats) on the window signs, rather than the overhead sign, since over the years, our specifics may morph, but our overhead sign will stay the same. Thanks, Laurie!

I was thinking about those 3 target markets:

Furniture relates to physical, practical necessities...
Art relates to the tug of beauty on our emotions and spirits, whispering...

Tea & treats relate to fellowship with other people...
Of course, all 3 overlap quite a bit, but there's me, categorizing and always looking for ways that the natural reveals facets of God's nature to us.

Love to you!
Katie

Testing the AdSense waters

You may notice a new presence on our blog. I hope it's not too overbearing. Advertising.

I'll probably be tinkering with the settings over the next few days, but let me know what you think of it!

If the ad publisher puts up ads for flattening your stomach, they will be removed as soon as I can get my fingers on the keyboard. I hate those ads! I leave websites, or shrink them so they only show the little window I want to read.

We've been learning to post our inventory on Kijiji classified ads. You can start here, and then click "View poster's other Ads":

So, you may ask, what does it feel like to be a poster?
Rather rectangular, I imagine.

We're on Craigslist, as well, but Kijiji is cooler. Just needs to become better known.

Here's one of my favorites of Liz's watercolors:

As with all of Liz's work, there's a charming story behind the picture :^)

We're open!

Actually, we've been open for 4 weeks, but have been too busy for blogging. So much has come together, it's good to look back and see that our hard work has been guided in steps of blessing.

We began our pilot opening on July 31, 2009, and hope to have our Grand Opening when our big overhead sign is installed and when we have all our administrative ducks in a row. Nice ducks :^)

I think my favorite part so far has been meeting so many people and finding favor. We really are each other's riches. I hope my co-owners will add to this blog from time to time, so you can get their perspective, as well.

Hope to put up more photos here because the transformation really is glorious, but meanwhile, check our our updated website: http://www.thelivingroominkenmore.com/

and the facebook page Elisha put together (I'm trying to add photos of our inventory):

and check out our coupons on our google map listing:

Hope to see you soon in The Living Room :^)
