Shoppers need lemony sustenance. We have it!

Kittyhugs Baking Company in Shoreline has been our source for treats to go with our Davidson's organic tea, to rave reviews. Today, I'm trying their lemon poppyseed minibread, and I can gladly give it the same A+ as their cupcakes and ginger cookies: it's just perfect. A lemony fragrance is the first wave of sensation that greets you, followed by a delightful balance of sweet and tart flavors in a moist, come-back-for-more texture. As I'm scraping the baking paper with my teeth to get every last morsel, I wonder if there's just the slightest touch of ginger?

Well, that was nice. I hope you'll have an opportunity to come by for your own lemon poppyseed experience soon. Or try the banana walnut minibread. Or come with a friend and share one of each while you enjoy a pleasant cup of tea or coffee and feast your eyes on the new art from Donna Reed, Tom Traeger, and Linda Jacobus.

Hmm, let's try an experiment. Say The Living Room blog sent you, and get 30% off a Kittyhugs Baking Company cupcake or minibread. One discount per customer; good through Valentine's Day, 2010.

Theo Chocolate in Kenmore!

Who knew restocking could be so much fun?

We enjoyed another Chocolate Excursion to the Theo Chocolate Factory in the Fremont district today.

We're slowly building our chocolate repertoire, and now have Theo's fabulous Nib Brittle 70% cacao bar, Jane Goodall 70% organic Dark Chocolate, Classic Combo Dark/Orange, and Vanilla Milk Chocolate. (Remind Chris to put out samples if they aren't out when you come to The Living Room.)

Next time we restock, I am definitely adding Theo's Chai Tea Chocolate to our selection, even though it is milk chocolate. Theo's has the only milk chocolate worth the calories, in my humble opinion. Rumor has it Theo Chocolates is thinking of discontinuing this flavor, so let's rally for Chai Tea Chocolate!

What's really great about Theo's, even beyond the flavor and high quality of the chocolate, is knowing it is organic and fair trade.

As I'm sure you know by now, good, dark chocolate with at least 60-70% cacao has proven health benefits for blood pressure, cholesterol levels, antioxidants, and memory, as well as mood. Rather than repeat the info that's out on the net, I'll just say, you could look it up. It's been in clinical reports since several years back. And all that goodness, found in Theo Chocolates, is available in Kenmore at The Living Room :^)

After finishing the arduous task of sampling chocolates for you, we stopped at Georgia's Greek Restaurant and Deli on 85th street just a few blocks west of Greenwood Avenue for a little refreshment. Wonderful gyros, avogolemono, and such luscious smells from the kitchen! But, alas, nothing we could bring back to provide for you at The Living Room. You'll just have to head to Georgia's yourself.

Teapots!

Now that's a nice collection of contemporary teapots. One woman's down-sizing is your opportunity to pick up a stylish, new-to-you teapot at The Living Room!

That little cobalt blue pitcher in the middle reminds me of the statue of Bucephalus in the beautiful 2-part movie, The Black Stallion. (The first part is my favorite, cuz everyone knows he'll win the race in part 2.)

Valentine Tea is here!

Here's our new, 26 oz., all-glass teapot with infuser and warmer from Davidson's, a complete brewing and serving set.
~ This set --handmade glass teapot, infuser, and warmer-- is  $49 at The Living Room.
Choose 6 free teabags from our array of Davidson's organic tea with your teapot purchase.

In the store, we're brewing Davidson's debut Valentine Tea, a fragrant, loose-leaf blend of organic white tea leaves from India with red rose petals and rose essential oil. Wonderful with or without a touch of cream and sugar or honey. Come try a sample at The Living Room.

~ 1.28 oz of Valentine Tea is $4.99 at The Living Room. Davidson's packages this tea in a fully biodegradable paper package produced through fair trade practices.

~ A perfect complement to our Valentine Tea is Davidson's heart-shaped, metal mesh infuser. The infuser is a generous size, giving the leaves plenty of room to expand, easily flavoring a large mug of tea or a small pot to share with a friend. $3.99 each.

~ Valentine's Special: Save 14% in honor of February 14th: buy the package of Valentine Tea together with a heart-shaped infuser for $7.77! Offer expires 2/28/2010.

The painting in the background is Donna Reed's "Lazy River", an original acrylic. We're so grateful for all the beautiful artwork consigned in our gallery. In fact, the longer we're here, the more pleased I am with the quality of consigned art and furniture we are receiving.

Thank you so much to all our neighbors and friends for coming to visit, for doing business with us, and for spreading the word about The Living Room!

It's all about the flow.

Well, the lively scarlet-striped chair and ottoman in the prior post have gone to a new home, with a lovely and lively young lady who is rightfully delighted with her find.

What have you got that you might consign to take its place in our store?

They're at it again...more vignettes by Donna with Chris' help

I'm thankful for their upbeat attitude. Knowing that their work will be undone perhaps before the end of the day as people come in to buy what's in the vignettes, or to consign pieces that will require all that work to be moved, they do it for joy, as unto the Lord, creating temporal beauty.

We were prompted to get on this job because I need a photo for an ad. I think the one above is my fave.

Here's another angle of it:

From there, they moved on to this grouping, their "black and white" period :^)

And this last one, in recovery from "too many small things together":

A wonderful outcome, I think! Thanks, guys!

And here's my humble attempt to make our tea tables inviting. I forget which friend suggested this, but we decorate with tea-light candles in tea cups. Since we not a restaurant, we cannot serve our wonderful, Davidson's organic tea in china. Thankfully, even in paper cups, the quality is evident.
