Amoeboid tables and other places to set your coffee cup

There are tables of the elements.
There are tables of contents.
There are dining tables and breakfast tables.
And there are amoeboid tables. AKA kidney-shaped. Or boomerang.
Mod, midcentury coffee tables.
Like this one:
Lucite & brass coffee table
Not too heavy, not too large.
The reflective, lucite surface is about 45" x 30", on a 16" tall sculptural support.
The more I view it, the more intriguing are the brass triangular and trapezoidal prisms that make its base.

Here's its cousin, with a Jetson flair:

Next to them, their brother coffee tables seem almost stodgy :^)

It's too hard to tell shoppers to come back on Saturday for our 10%-off-everything sale to celebrate our 1st anniversary on July 31.

So, we began the sale today.

Cupcakes aren't free until Saturday though!

We're still turning sideways to get through the shop, so please come and help us thin out the inventory!

Here's a sample:

Roger and Karen made 2 trips in with their trailer to help our newest consignor get her treasures here. So thankful it was not raining, although I'm sure they would have been prepared with tarps, raingear, flashlights, sandwiches...whatever was needed. Such capable, down-to-earth people! Very thankful to have their help.

Here are some views of a couple of the larger items, but they also brought boxes glassware items, tea cups, vases, old camera equipment...fun stuff for you to come browse through :^)

A midcentury dresser and mirror made by RWAY:
(What is it about cubbyholes? I love them! This stack of 3 small cubby-like drawers in the middle of the dresser is such a nice touch.)

Next, here's a beech (or birch? I need to learn more woods) dining room cabinet made by American of Martinsville for their “Urban Suburban” furniture designed by Merton L. Gershun. One source says this is from 1956. Um, that would be mid-century!
(Oh, look! More cubbies!)

That will have to do for now. Need to get down to The Living Room early Thursday morning to shovel aisles again.

The antique secretary side-by-side you have been looking for is here...

This piece is so sweet to see, it would be nice if it didn't sell too quickly. Too bad you can't see the ripply, antique glass in this photo:

The desktop opens with an appropriate creak to reveal charming cubbies.

Isn't the design on these brass knobs intriguing?

This secretary has seen some hard living arrangements. You can enjoy these tokens of age, or set to work to refinish them.

If these 4 views don't satisfy your curiosity, there are a few more in this flickr set:

OR, best of all, come see it in person.

Another go at eBay!

Since our doll collection needs to sell quickly, we're testing the eBay waters again. What an a-mazing marketplace, but I trust we'll get the hang of it.

Check out our new listing for this elegant porcelain ballerina doll, "Lana", from the Dynasty Doll Collection:

Already a week into July! - Updated 7/10/10-

Have been very busy with the new month. Hope you will come by soon to see how we are rearranging. And of course there is ALWAYS something new in the shop.

Here's today's catch. I've never seen a couch with this styling. Vintage mid-century. Soft and comfortably creaky leather. I was there during the mid-century, but such hip style statements didn't make it to our working class home:

UPDATE: This couch sold 7/10/10. The new owners packed into their Mini-Cooper by dismantling all the modules! Turns out those over-size rivets were functional bolt heads, not just decor. Those Finns! That is the way to make furniture.

And here are the dolls that came in last week. Please spread the word; these must sell quickly:

There's more new than I've shown here, so click on our flickr gallery (behind George the Cat to the right), or our craigslist ads (behind the oak table photo to the right).
