Craftsmanship from 100+ years ago: 4 antique sideboards, 4 styles

Newly consigned, antique sideboards. These glorious, solid wood pieces, were crafted over 100 years ago. They may have been designed for the dining room, but are stunning as dressers, entry pieces, tv consoles, or kitchen units.

(1) French or Belgian mahogany buffet, circa 1890. Beautiful piece with lush but subtle acanthus-motif. 60" x 22" x 37" tall.

Original hardware, with one handle needing repair. Top surface has crack. More photos of this piece can be seen in this online gallery.

(2) A "restoration opportunity", circa 1890 Eastlake-style sideboard with mirrored candle-stands. 57" wide and about 6.5' tall.

Original hardware, classic "Eastlake" carving. Beautiful, and overall, in good condition. Notable need for work on the buffet surface.

More views of this piece can be seen in this online gallery.

(3) ~1910 English oak sideboard with mirrored backsplash. Elegant, carving reminiscent of Celtic or Arts and Crafts Movement work.

 ~60" x 20" x 38" tall + 23" mirror.

More views of this attractive piece are in this online gallery.

(4) ~1890-1900 English or Belgian oak sideboard with balusters and mirror. 61.5" wide x 21.75" deep.

This piece is not overly ornate, but beautifully carved with acanthus motif. Structurally in good condition with striking original hardware.

As the pictures in this online gallery show, there are spots that could use some attention and restoration, but overall, ready to use and enjoy.

From Sheila's Tea Ministry: new consignments you will enjoy

Our friend Sheila has taken us up on the offer of consigning for charity. Here are some items from her first batch. Nice, huh? Her consignments support a tea-party ministry she does with a friend, offering respite and a spot of beauty to women needing encouragement in life.

If you want a boost, ask Sheila to tell you some of her "God-stories" about how the Lord Jesus arranges personal blessings above and beyond what she and Jeanette lovingly plan for their guests.

Sitting pretty on velvet

UPDATE: SOLD

Velvet lounger and ottoman

Here's the photo I promised you a couple of blog entries back -- the vintage lounger and ottoman without its slipcover. I kinda like it better this way. Priced at $85 $75, slipcover included.

Here's an antique, oak rocker with a similar deep red velvet cushion that sits nicely nearby. Beautiful barley twist design on the front legs. The consignor recognizes this rocking chair could use some work, so it is priced at $35 UPDATE: SOLD (although it is functional as is):
