Slosh over to The Living Room to cure cabin fever

1960s, handpainted parlor lamp, Victorian or "GWTW" style.
After so many days enjoying hearth and home, hemmed in by snow, it will be good to have The Living Room open on schedule again this Saturday. Stop by between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for a good cup of tea and a stroll through our treasures. Sure cure for cabin fever!

(Oh, I do mean slosh! Our flat parking lot was full of slush on Friday evening, so wear your galoshes with good tread!)

Shop TLR online while it is snowy

Kenmore Plaza in the early few inches of snow
17 January 2012
Looks like we'll be closed for the next couple of days due to snow and the general wimpiness of Puget Sound residents (including me) when it comes to the white stuff. We'll be out in force again when the rains come on Thursday, Lord willing.

Please visit our online store or call us at 425-877-1074.

From Sheila's Tea Ministry: new consignments you will enjoy

Our friend Sheila has taken us up on the offer of consigning for charity. Here are some items from her first batch. Nice, huh? Her consignments support a tea-party ministry she does with a friend, offering respite and a spot of beauty to women needing encouragement in life.

If you want a boost, ask Sheila to tell you some of her "God-stories" about how the Lord Jesus arranges personal blessings above and beyond what she and Jeanette lovingly plan for their guests.

I'm so tickled with Craiglist's new improvements!

Art glass flamingo, $28
Cobalt glass vase w/iris, $58

So happy! Craigslist has removed all my objections and gripes about using their free ad platform. (Well, almost all, but I'm not going to dwell on the negative of having anonymous peeps able to flag down perfectly good ads, with no recourse to the poster except to submit a query to the rude forums. Nope, not going there.)

Craigslist now allows me to renew with a flick of the click, and to repost all my ads one after the other without getting the "You're posting too fast; you must be a spammer" time-out.

And when you search for all The Living Room ads on CL, you can use CL's cool new feature that allows thumbnail photos of each ad. Try it here. (If it's turned off on your browser, see the option to turn it on in the upper right corner of the CL search results page.)

Enjoying the mercies and graces, big and little.

The first of the summer months is here! Break out the hot tea!

Yes, June 1st, mild and rainy. A good day for some hot tea.

The Living Room is about as packed with cuteness as it can be. Please come and bring a friend who has yet to experience The Living Room; enjoy a cup of Davidson's organic fine in our eclectic surroundings.

Here's a recent consignment: a 3-year old, espresso-finish, dining room ensemble:

Oops! That's something smaller. How small? About the size of a breadbox. Wait, it is a breadbox. Which for the record is as big as 16" x 12" x 10". Oak, priced $22.

OK, back to that dining room set from Klaussner Furniture's Mocoa collection. $895 for all: china cabinet with hutch, table with extending leaf, and 6 chairs. This is a great price because we need to move it out to make room for new consignments coming:

54" wide x 18" deep x 80" tall.
China cabinet base sits on black metal legs &grid.
Hutch features mirrors, lighting, stemware racks.
6 oversized, microfiber-covered chairs

Espresso dr set table, 42" x 60" + 18" leaf
42" x 60" table with 18" leaf

Shop in our cozy store, or try our latest online store...

My quest continues for an affordable, easy-upkeep, online store to augment the irreplaceable experience of visiting The Living Room in person.

Yes, I should wait until the new webstore is ready and then do a proper roll-out. (When we were kids, shielding an art project from view until it was finished was called working on a "slam-bammy-boozle", although I've since thought that Al Capp, the cartoonist who coined the term, had something else in mind for its meaning.)

But perhaps you'll be curious to watch my progress? http://www.thelivingroominkenmore.com/
If not, don't click the link until I let you know it's all in place. Until then, here's a peaceful photo where you can sit with my son (about 6 years ago) watching the grass grow at Lakewold Gardens :^)

And after the van pulled away, a station wagon drove up...

Just popping online for a moment (famous last words!) to show you a few more of our recent consignments:

Two nearly-new Stowaway Cribs by Foundations, Model 40-20-2F-CW. ($110 each.)

Stowaway cribs are easy to roll out and set up, even one-handed.
White metal frame is 26.5" wide x 40" long, and stands 30.5" tall at the sides.
In excellent condition. Mattress pad included. Why pay $215 for new when these are available?

And when the little one is not in the crib, wouldn't this be a fun place to sit with mom?

Charming and classy, white wicker rocker. A natural in a shabby chic or garden setting.
Woven resin makes this great indoors or out. In excellent condition. ($165)

That's all I have time to show you here. Many more treasures to see in our flickr.com gallery, and of course in person at The Living Room, with a cup of tea.
