We are Bookcase City this week...
We don't get bookcases on consignment too often, but we happen to have several good choices just now.
First, a tall, darkly blond and handsome set of 3 alder wood bookcases, custom built.
Other choices also include a more utilitarian, wooden bookcase that is doubling as my sales counter just now.
It's 48" wide x ~13" deep x ~36" tall. $45.
And an unfinished Ballard Bookcase Company unit, 30" x 11" x 48" tall; these are $159 new. The one here has some wear that doesn't affect its function, priced at $95.
Inocuous among the bookcases is this white laminate display case, 31.5" x 15.5" x 63.5" tall, the upper shelves lit and enclosed by glass doors:
Inocuous because it fades into the background when you have items on display:
Here's a moody version of the upper shelf display area, showing the Fog Woman totem pole, the Davidsons glass teapot, the 40-year old Lennox vase, and the Cannonsburg dishes:
And here's another photo of the lit display area, just because I like the way it turned out. This is the 22 kt. gold-trimmed Canonsburg dish set; there are almost 12 place settings, with a piece missing here and there, but 10 complete 6-dish settings plus serving dishes. We've priced it low ($195 for 86 pieces) because the consignor just wants it to go to a good home where it will be used and appreciated. (The creamer and lidless sugar bowl to the back are orphans, but they fit nicely with the Canonsburg teapot, don't they?)

Somehow, we ended the day with more than we began
Today was the last day of our latest "No Sales Tax" Sale. A busy day, for which we are so thankful! Yet with all the sales, somehow we ended up with more inventory than when we began. How did that happen?

Souped up captain's bed for lots of storage! And an oak, clawfoot pedestal table...
(UPDATE 5/3/11: BED SOLD) I haven't seen a captain's bed with storage drawers on both sides, but we consigned one today. The storage continues with a matching 2-drawer night stand, and a bookcase headboard. Twin size:
Speaking of soup, here's a lovely place to enjoy a bowl with a few friends:
Table is 42" diameter plus a single 17.75" leaf.
Chairs and table are completely sturdy; table has some surface wear.
Enjoy the detailing and the beautiful pattern pressed into the chairs.

Spotlight on New Treasures
Here are a handful of goodies that deserve your attention. They're on our flickr site, but in case you haven't been there lately, or missed these in the wealth stored there, here they are in the blog spotlight:
A child's baby buggy for a favorite doll. This is a faithful reproduction, not antique. Without my tape measure here, I recall it's about 30 inches long, maybe 18" high at the basket edge.
A rustic pine shelf, made in Mexico. In our shop, this not-new but like-new bookcase is less than half the price of new.
Margo got this set up and oiled today, so we know it can sew. Again, a faithful reproduction, not an antique.
Anne Marie's Treats are so cute and so cleverly packaged, more than one customer has asked if they are real cupcakes. Yes, they are real! We're keeping our cupcake price low to reward our hard-working shoppers...after 3 strolls around the store they are still discovering new treasures to exclaim over.
